过去的科幻变成今日的现实，讲述一流科幻作家的生活和作品，通过电影片段、重演、插画和采访等描述他们对科技发展的预测和影响。人类创造智慧生命、随意改造基因、记忆植入、时间旅行。由于科技的发展，人类正一步步接近科幻作品里描述的一些可能性，科幻作品有时候能激发新的思想，时间旅行的概念在相对论出现以前就已经存在，在空中飞行的想象则远早于飞机的发明，在科技发展过程中，科幻有其不可忽视的作用；然而，科技发展也会带来很多伦理问题，比如不经正常生殖过程创造出新的智慧生物、基因改造使动物身上长出人类组织器官、模糊物种间的界限甚至生与死之间的界限，等等，这些，都是值得深思的问题。
